Senior Orthopedic Surgeon at B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Dr. Roshan Prasad Kalwar Shah has been elected the president of Nepal Medical Association for Dharan Branch.

In the election that was held on Friday, Dr. Kalwar won against his opponent Dr.Sandip Shah, who is also from the same hospital but from the Department of Anatomy, by one vote. A nine-member working committte including Dr.Kalwar in the lead has successfully been formed.Dr.Pravid Gajurel has been elected as the senior vice president and Dr. Niraj Regmi (unopposed) as the vice president of the committee.

Similarly, Dr.Nirmal Prasad Shah and Dr. Shyam Prasad Kafle have been elected unopposed in the position of secretary and treasurer respectively.

A total of 167 doctors working in various hospitals across Sunsari district had cast their votes in the three-year term election.

After being elected as the chairman, Dr. Kalwar said, “I will work day and night for providing the best services to the patients, who are god to us. Protect the patients from being deceived and shall always fight for the professional rights of the doctors.”

 

Nepal Medical Association has been established for the rights, interests and convenience of medical students alongside improving medical education. In addition to this, the objective of the association is to create comfort for the patients and service recipients by strengthening the relationship of the doctors.
